MISERY ADORES COMPANY!!!

Unfortunately we all have someone in our lives who seems to be perpetually unhappy. Though the sun is shimmering gorgeously against the back drop of a cerulean  sky, this individual would rather enlist the company of  you, "Friend", to hold the umbrella once again for them as they maneuver through their dark, and gloomy existence. It leaves one to wonder, must it always RAIN, Sylvia Plath? The old saying " Misery Loves Company" is the star in a drama I was unwillingly tossed into. Ms. M, as we will refer to her(Misery), came calling in the personification of a mutual friend of myself and boyfriend.  She had recently found out that her lover had replaced her for a newer model, and this reality left her a bit undone. So much in fact that she projected her anger toward anyone with even the vaguest of similarities to her ex-lover. Sharing the same Zodiac symbol as her love, I immediately fell victim to persecution. Her pain and loathing of situations completely irrelevant to my love life were brought very close to home...actually they were placed directly into my bed. Her therapy  in "over coming" her personal toils was to translate her failed relationship issues onto myself and lover's  relationship. She did this by identifying the characteristic that her ex and I  commonly posses. These similarities were concrete reasons why my man should reconsider his choices in loving me. Did she really desire for him to chuck me the duece? Was he actually considering it? A conversation between myself and lover quickly calmed my nerves, however I still racked my subconscious in hopes of finding her intentions behind this Smear Campaign against Mister Fish. I can only assume that her pain was so "DEEP" that she couldn't bear it alone. My advice to those who feel that pain and self loathing is a"group" exercise, guess again. The only way to get over pain is to LET IT GO! STOP DWELLING! Besides, most people cannot stand a party pooper!

A  New Year, A New Begining

On the eve of my 26th birthday, I sit by my window smoking a cigarette. I am in a somber mood, simply reflecting upon the passing  year. Had I attained all that I'd assumed I would by now? Am I emotionally ready to depart from 25,and embarke upon 26,which is just 4 stops shy from the monumental 30. As a boy, I always assumed I'd be married by now.  27 was the year in which I would be financially secure, and by 28th I'd  be welcoming the birth of my first child.  Funny how God works,I guess. Although the ride has not been as predictable as I'd once configured, it has been quite magical. In retrospect, 25 as a whole was truly a year of childlike wonder, where I made the transition from adolescence stepping into manhood...one Prada loafer at a time.  Now Ladies, I admit to having a tad bit of apprehensions accepting the "RESPONSIBILTY" of being adult, and believe me I surprised even myself.

The Word of the Day

Really,Now?!

I recently attended the annual Birthday B.B.Q for my fabulous girlfriend,  where the composition of trendy hipster and posh artsy individuals make for wonderful conversations. I decided that with the ratio of men and women being pretty similar, however age ranges between the two sexes differing slightly (older gents, younger women), I would be introduced to a vast array of ideals to feast upon. The topic of conversation was  "Relationships", and having chosen such a broad topic with all intentions, I sat back and was driven deep into the psyche of the party goers. Coincidentally enough, the destination majority of these voyages, though different in sex and social standing, made the common stop at a little place called "Independence".
Which leaves me with the question: Can Independence in a Relationship truly exist?

Furnished by Wikipedia we review the word: INDEPENDENCE:
the self-government of a nation, country,or state by its residents and population,or some portion thereof, generally exercising sovereignty.

The term Independence is used in contrast of subjugation, which refers to a region as a territory-subject to the political and military control of an external government. The word is sometimes used in a weaker sense to contrast with hegemony, the direct control of one nation by another, more powerful nation.

Independence can be the initial status of an emerging nation(often filling a political void), but is often an emancipation from some dominating power. It can be argued that Independence is a negative definition: the state of not being controlled by another power though colonialism, expansionism or imperialism. Independence may be obtained by decolonization, or by separation or dissolution.

Does this definition describe what the term Independent means to you?
